Giclee Art Printing

The Children of Flores, 2008. Giclee Art Printing. 100x75cm.

Giclee, generally pronounced "zhi-Klei," is a generic term for the process of pure art print using ink-jet printer. Giclee comes from French meaning "to spray", originally the term is applied to works of fine art prints using Iris printers in a process found in the early 1990s, but after that could be applied to ink-jet printing device whatever of high quality.

The word "giclée" was sparked by Jack Duganne to represent any digital print used in works of art. The purpose of naming it to distinguish printed result of "Iris print" for industrial purposes with the fine art prints produced by artists.

Digital painting will be print using a machine large format ink jet-based eco-solvent (not faded, no odor, and not easily scratched) high resolution specifically for painting. The medium used is fine canvas (type picaso-canvas) and coarse-textured canvases, both made in USA.

Giclee art printing, have more value than conventional painting, namely:
- The price is relatively cheaper,
- If damage can be reprint,
- Much faster ordering.

Each of my paintings worth U.S. $ 3.000.00 with a specification of the size of the longest is 120 cm (but you can order your own size), and I just print just 10 pieces for one painting.

My desire to paint

My name is Saul O Hardy E. Lydda. My last education at the Jakarta Art Institute. I know the conventional painting at the end of 1970. But in 1987, I realized that I was allergic to oil paint. I had to keep my obsession to be a painter.

In 1994 I became familiar with computers and softwares and that's when I knew Painter software so my choice fell on digital painting.
I think, when Van Gogh lived in the same age with me, he would paint with a computer as well. because he always tries to paint with a new way. as well as other famous artists.

I wanted to show you about my interest & why I paint. So I made this blog, to share with you about my views on various issues.

Many people told me I was too traditional in painting, although I use modern techniques. I think everyone should just say so, but for me, using modern techniques to preserve the tradition is very interesting.

Thank you for visiting my blog and please see my gallery of paintings & take your time to make comments. Thank you.
